Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Showcases More Characters and Story Demo

With Sony’s E3 Conference, we got to find out more of the Cinematic Story Mode in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite alongside with more character reveals and even the return of a big baddie who is well known for Infinity Stones.

Within the Story Trailer, we see how Ultron Sigma has the upper hand on both heroes of Marvel and Capcom and has started to murder the two worlds together to rule over both; such as the fusion of Asgard and Abel City from Megaman X, and a new stage shown called “Knowmoon” which is a combination of the celestial outpost Knowhere and Third Moon from the Strider series. Fortunately, if you wish to have a taste of what the game’s story mode will be, you won’t have to wait long as it was announced that a playable story demo will be coming out tonight for both Playstation 4 and Xbox One, so that will be the first official taste for those of us who are unable to make it to E3 this year.

With this new trailer, we also got confirmation off eight more fighters getting added into the mix. From Capcom, the Demon Hunter Dante, the Maverick Hunter Zero, the man with the Bionic Arm Spencer, and the Knight Arthur will be making their return from Marvel vs Capcom 3.  Joining them from Marvel side is the Master of the Mystic Arts Doctor Strange and Nova of the Nova Corps. While we are seeing six returning characters, we were also introduced to two brand new characters to the series. Fellow Guardian of the Galaxy Gamora joins Rocket Raccoon (who is accompanied by Groot, who serves as Rocket’s assist in the game) and The Mad Titan himself: Thanos.

From the gameplay trailer that was posted shortly after the story trailer, we can see how the returning fighters do have their same bread and butter goodness, while Rocket does work well with Groot as Groot can help disrupt the enemy further. Gamora was not featured in this gameplay trailer (she will most likely be featured in the next one), but we got to see Thanos in action as he looked a lot more devastating than when he was in previous games where one of his attacks was… bubbles. Finally, to go with the new trailer, we got to see the fourth infinity stone in play: Reality. At this present time, it was difficult to say how Reality changed the gameplay, but we are sure to have more details as they come available. At this time, it does feel like Thanos is almost like a heavier and stronger hitting Dr. Doom, although we are bound to get more details later this week as no doubt, we will get to hear lots of hands-on impressions of the game in action.

At the end of the gameplay trailer, we got word of our 2nd downloadable character in the game: Black Panther. Much like Sigma, it is difficult to say what he will bring to the table and how his gameplay style will be, but he will certainly be a welcomed additional to this ever expanding roster.
