#10 Injustice 2
The storyline in this trailer is amazing. I am partially biased because I’m a huge Batman fan, but I think the storyline for the entire Injustice series has been amazing, so far. The trailer starts out with Superman locked up and continues down the storyline of a Batman vs. Superman game. The Injustice series is DC’s updated version of Mortal Kombat in that it’s a one-on-one fighter game and you can build up special moves to help “finish” your opponent. You can play as all of your favorite DC characters with enough downloadable content to help you enjoy this game until Injustice 3 comes out. Injustice 2 is going to be released May 16, 2017.
#9 Call of Cthulhu
The trailer opens with dialogue as we see various crime scenes and destruction. The dialog between the different characters sheds light on the destruction which making you question what you believe. Toward the end of the trailer, you get a jump scare moment. Call of Cthulhu is an RPG-Investigation game blending psychological horror and stealth mechanics in a deeply immersive world with an oppressive atmosphere. Call of Cthulhu is scheduled to be released in December of this year.
WARNING: THIS TRAILER CONTAINS VIOLENT FOOTAGE AND FLASHING IMAGES WHICH SOME MAY FIND DISTURBING. That is how this trailer starts, and it is not a joke. Agony is a first-person survival horror game currently in development. Players will begin their journey as a tormented soul within the depths of hell without any memories about his past. Why is this game on the list? The graphics for the trailer and the general atmospheric effect of watching this trailer is amazing. I thought about not putting it on the list, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this game, and that is what a trailer is supposed to do to you. REMEMBER, I warned you.
#7 Darksiders 3
You first hear a deep voice talking about the apocalypse with fire embers on the screen. There’s not a lot happening in this trailer, but it does help build anticipation for the game with a short burst of action. Mostly, the trailer is just setting up the storyline for the game. Darksiders 3 is set to be an open-world action-adventure that includes a focus on exploration and environmental puzzles while maintaining the series staple “hack and slash” combat with new protagonist Fury. It’s scheduled to be released in 2018.
#6 Mass Effect: Andromeda
This trailer looks like the next big summer blockbuster! This trailer is amazing and it really helped to hype up an already amazing game. If you told me that this trailer was a Michael Bay Star Wars movie, I’d believe you and I’d be first in line to see this movie. Mass Effect: Andromeda begins within the Milky Way Galaxy during the 22nd century, where humanity is planning to populate new home worlds in the Andromeda Galaxy as part of a strategy called the Andromeda Initiative. Mass Effect: Andromeda is available now.
#5 For Honor
I’m a sucker for Vikings. This trailer starts out with narration for the Vikings, the Samurais, and the Knights. While the narration is happening, you see action scenes for each of the groups, the music starts playing, and then all of the fights scenes for all the groups! In the world of For Honor, an age-old war rages between three legendary factions, each with their own unique lore and gameplay. For Honor is available now.
#4 The Escapists 2: Rattlesnake Springs
This one is number 4 on this list for two reasons. One, the gameplay reminds me of playing Pokémon on my Gameboy. Two, there is a character named Horsey McHorse Face who is playing as The Horse and a character named Dog playing The Dog. This trailer is amazing, and this game looks fun. In The Escapists 2: Rattlesnake Springs, you have to evade the Sheriff and try to break out of the jail. This game is scheduled to be released later this year.
#3 The Surge
The trailer starts with a hologram guy talking about how great this new technology is going to be for humanity. As he’s talking, you see a close-up of a guy’s face wearing the technology that the hologram was talking about. Then robots start to attack and the action scenes commence. The Surge is an action RPG set in a world ravaged by war and global warming. The game offers a hardcore experience, with a focus on challenging, visceral melee combat. Set to be released May 16, 2017.
#2 The Avengers Project
This trailer shows no action scenes. It shows no actual characters. All you hear is Black Widow’s narration and scenes of the iconic symbols of the Avengers like Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield. It was perfect. Without giving anything away, they created so much excitement for this game and that, like I mentioned before, is what trailers are meant to do. More details will be announced in 2018.
#1: Call of Duty: WWII
Show this trailer to someone who has never heard of Call of Duty. They will start to get excited and ask you when this movie comes out. It has elements of all the other trailers before this one. You have the open narration to set the tone for the trailer. You have the incredible graphics. It shows action scenes without giving away the plot details. It has dramatic music to really intensify the action. In Call of Duty: WWII, you get to play through the story of ordinary men turned soldiers in the 1st Infantry Division, as they fight to preserve freedom in the face of Tyranny. The game delivers fast-paced, boots-on-ground combat through iconic locations in the European Theater. Call of Duty: WWII will be available November 3rd.
