Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is now available for pre-order on Xbox One, three months after its announcement of coming to the console. The game is developed by Haeminmont Games, a Bulgarian independent development studio that also created the recent Tropico games. The game initially released on Steam on July 24th, 2015. This version of the game will not only feature the main game but also two DLC expansions: Fractured Worlds and Motörhead: Through the Ages. Couch and online co-op will be included, supporting two players locally or up to four players through online play.
The top-down action RPG puts players in a dark Gothic fantasy world overrun by demons in an attempt to hunt them down and liberate Zagoravia, a cursed city. Players are able to collect a variety of powerful weapons, as well as, game-changing outfits, demonic abilities, and destiny cards. Your loadout is able to be changed throughout the game, giving players a wealth of options in ways to play the game.
The gameplay is reminiscent of other top-down dungeon crawlers such as Baldur’s Gate or Gauntlet, combined with bullet hell elements. The game plays fast, with you dodge rolling out of the way of attack coming from dozens of enemies on screen. These attacks are projectiles, such as arrows or gunfire, fireballs or other magic spells. Some enemies perform quick dash moves, quickly moving from one side of the screen to the other in an attempt to bring you down. Did I mention that all this can happen at once? Well, it can. Good luck!
The DLC for Victor Vran is quite interesting, as well. The Fractured Worlds expansion provides an entirely new plane of existence for the players to explore which was created from the collision of several broken worlds. Players will be able to battle endlessly in the Fracture against new enemies while level cap gets bumped up to 60. Motörhead: Through the Ages brings players into another entirely new world based on the heavy metal band Motörhead. The second expansion provides players more enemies to fight along with weapons and tools to fight them with. It wouldn’t have Motörhead in the title if it didn’t have cameos from the main man Lemmy Kilminster himself, as well as, the band’s music as the soundtrack. Even during development, they were hands-on in the process.
Victor Vran: Overkill Edition releases for Xbox One on May 30th. If you pre-order the game, it will be able to be pre-loaded and playable at 9:00 PM on May 29th.
